Hope's Story

Don't give up Hope! Earlier this year, Hope, a gray muzzled 8-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix found herself all alone after her beloved owner was hospitalized. With no one left to care for her, the Arizona Humane Society's Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™ came to Hope's rescue. She was treated in AHS' Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital™ where it soon became apparent this old gal needed some extra TLC. Her teeth were badly worn down and she walked with a stiff gait due to years of living with hip dysplasia.

Despite how unconformable she must have been, Hope quickly won over the staff's hearts with her sweet personality. Soon, Hope became a regular guest in the staff breakroom, joining staff and volunteers on their breaks and stealing delicious treats from the lunches they'd packed for the day. She was even given a top-of-the-line spa treatment with doggie massage sessions to help ease her achy joints!

Now, AHS' staff and volunteers are holding out "hope" to find this sweet senior girl a home where she can enjoy her golden years. Hope will need to find a family who can commit to her ongoing medical needs. At 8 years old, she is considered a geriatric pet. Her bloodwork is normal but her urine testing shows that her body is not able to concentrate her urine as well as it should, which could be a sign of early kidney disease. She also has significantly worn teeth with dental calculus. While she is doing relatively well now, she needs further follow-up for these conditions. In return, Hope has a lot of love to give. She is very well mannered, knows basic commands like "sit" and "stay" and loves to go for walks. While, she loves her human friends, other dogs can bring added stress for Hope. She will need to be the only dog in her new home and should not be taken to dog parks or other settings with other dogs around.
