Betty Survived Because of You
Help Twice as Many Pets Like Her

Summer is the most critical time of year for vulnerable animals in Arizona, and Betty knows that better than most. Our Emergency Animal Medical Technicians rescued the pregnant stray carrying 13 puppies from the streets of Phoenix, where she was suffering from severe heat distress and in desperate need of care. Thanks to animal lovers like you, her story didn’t end under the unrelenting sun – see how her transformation unfolded.

This year, we expect more than 28,000 pets to come through our doors, and every rescue, treatment and second chance depends on caring people like you. Give now through August 15 and your gift will be doubled up to $50,000 thanks to our generous friends at Smead Capital Management.

A Sunnyslope Campus Update, Just for You
Take a Sneak Peek Inside our Most Recent Transformation

Our Sunnyslope Campus plays a vital role in our three-campus System of Care. After expanding access to affordable veterinary care with our remodeled Veterinary Clinic, we're excited to share the next phase of improvements. The Sunnyslope Campus, first opened in 1957, serves Central Phoenix and is the access point for West and North Valley pet owners.

The Campus isn't just getting a glow-up—it's being transformed to help us care for a record-breaking number of pets. Soon, the Trauma Hospital will reopen, with animal ambulances once again bringing sick, injured and abused pets through its doors. These updates will allow us to care for an additional 3,000 pets each year, especially during the busy summer months when our kennels are full.

Our Adoptions and Foster areas are also getting an upgrade. Two new dog meet-and-greet rooms and a new cat adoption area are already complete, creating brighter, more welcoming spaces for pets and their future families.

Next up is phase three, bringing renovations to staff spaces and exam rooms through the end of August. Every improvement helps us better care for pets and the people who love them. Thank you to our community for making this transformation possible. We can't wait to share what's next.

Found Kittens? Look But Don’t Touch

Kitten season is still going strong, and we want to remind you: If you come across a healthy litter, the best way to help is often to look but don’t touch. Mother cats frequently leave their kittens for short periods to find food, and these fragile babies have the best chance of survival when they stay in her care. If mom has not returned after several hours or the kittens are sick, we can help guide you on next steps.

Gage Is Ready to Shepherd in a New Chapter

When Gage first arrived at the Arizona Humane Society, this 2-year-old German Shepherd mix was an injured stray battling heat distress, his body covered in lacerations and puncture wounds. Thanks to compassionate animal lovers like you, Gage received the urgent care, dental work and time he needed to heal. Now, this gentle boy is learning that people can be kind. New faces and places still make him unsure, but with patience, understanding and a soft place to land, Gage blossoms. Give him time, and you just may find him curled beside you, ready to share every quiet moment and every new adventure as the loyal companion he was always meant to be.

101 Dalmatians? Not quite. Our Emergency Animal Medical Technicians rescued 16 of these precious pups and 5 adults from an irresponsible backyard breeding situation. Thankfully, they're now safe and in loving homes. Their story is a reminder that accidental litters and irresponsible breeding fuel pet overpopulation. Be part of the solution—spay or neuter your pets. #trendingonsocial
