Our summer, service learning-based Camp Compassion --- Where CHARACTER COUNTS! --- continues to be a much anticipated annual event! Our camp schedule of three, mid-week, half-days was structured at the request of parents who wish to have Mondays and Fridays open for summer travel and family fun!

Our compassionate campers, ages 8 to 12, dig right in by selecting shelter buddies for whom they dedicate all of their efforts! The goal? A forever home, of course! Campers engage in a myriad of adoption-directed crafts and activities, meet several very special animal and human visitors and learn all about the animals who arrive at our shelter! Our camp offerings blend the very best principles of Humane and Character Education --- in fact, each camp day is dedicated to a particular pillar of character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship, which is then coupled with a particular animal group focus. This year, we have designed camp to chronicle the Shelter Journey, as experienced by our animals. We begin with age-specific lessons about how and why animals arrive at our shelter and learn about every other potential stop along the way during their time with us: Second Chance Animal Hospital, our Behavior Team, Adoptions area --- and more. And this year, we’re adding an expanded service and leadership component to each day by ending with age-specific roundtable brainstorming activities to talk about how each of us can help to make things better for animals in the areas about which we learned!

Camp sessions run from 12:30 pm until 5:00 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the second and fourth full weeks of June and July, respectively. Sessions I and II are previewed in June and repeated in July. This way, campers can attend both weeks in either month, or mix and match by attending one session in one month and the other section in another. Because our framework is flexible and fluid, students can attend one day, one week or both weeks and still feel GREAT about their experience!

Campers can attend single days for $50.00 each, the three-day-week for a discounted $135.00 or sign up for the full six-day, two-week session, for a further discounted tuition of $250.00.

All camp sessions run from 12:30 pm until 5:00 pm with registration beginning at noon each day. Graduation is held at 4:45pm on the Thursday afternoon of each session:

June Session I - Tuesday, June 11 - Thursday, June 13 / 12:30pm - 5:00pm (closed)

June Session II - Tuesday, June 25 - Thursday, June 27 / 12:30pm - 5:00pm (closed)

July Session I (repeated) - Tuesday, July 9 -  Thursday, July 11 / 12:30pm - 5:00pm
